
There are alternatives to declawing. There are small plastic nail covers that can be placed over your cats claws. The will need to be changed out regularly and your cat may be able to remove them, but not usually. These “nail caps” are sold in different colors, as you can see in the picture. Teaching your cat not to scratch your furniture is difficult, but there are cat repellents that will make your job easier and may let your pet keep their claws. You will also need to provide an acceptable place for your cat to scratch, like a scratching post, so they can still sharpen their claws.

Cats are meant to have claws. Keep them trimmed…encourage your cat to use scratch posts or put up with the damage. If you don’t want a cat to be a normal cat, then DON’T HAVE ONE.
